Help Build a More Sustainable Bude

5 hours per week | Self-employed | Initial 1-year contract (Lottery funded)

 

Are you practical, organised and passionate about sustainability? Do you enjoy working with people and making a real difference in your community?

Sustainable Bude is launching an exciting new Library of Things—a community resource where local people can borrow tools and equipment instead of buying them. We're looking for an enthusiastic Co-ordinator to help bring this innovative project to life and manage its day-to-day operation. 

 

What You Will Do

  • You'll play a leading role in establishing and running the Library, including:
  • Setting up the service, purchasing and organising tools and equipment. 
  • Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers. 
  • Welcoming members and managing loans using the MyTurn system. 
  • Ensuring tools are safe, maintained and ready for use. 
  • Promoting the Library through community events and social media. 
  • Helping create a welcoming space that encourages sharing, repair and reuse. 

 

We Are Looking For Someone Who Is...

  • Friendly, approachable and highly organised. 
  • Comfortable working independently and using initiative. 
  • Confident with IT and administrative tasks. 
  • Experienced in customer service and supporting volunteers. 
  • Knowledgeable about DIY, gardening or household tools and their safe use. 
  • Passionate about sustainability, community projects and reducing waste

This is much more than a part-time job. You'll help establish a service that enables people to save money, reduce waste and access the tools they need without having to buy them. You'll be at the heart of a project that strengthens the local community while promoting practical environmental action. 

Whether you're organising equipment, supporting volunteers or chatting with borrowers, every hour you work will help create a lasting community asset.
